With the MacBook's return date looming, I asked some friends about their favorite Mac features, just to make sure I didn't miss playing around with something while I had the chance. One thing that came up from a couple of my friends was search.
I don't use search a ton on Windows, even though it's much improved in Windows 7 and even further improved in Windows 8. Perhaps I've just had to put up with crappy Windows search for so many years that I'm now used to doing what I need to do without it :) But I played around with it a bit in OS X, and was really impressed.
It works instantly and flawlessly, compared to search even in Windows 8, which hesitates for just a moment before returning results. I also loved being able to preview files right from the search results window.
I do, however, prefer the way that Windows 8 allows you to quickly filter your results based on file type and switch between them -- OS X groups things by file type and allows you to open a window with results of a given file type, but it's not quite as seamless.
